About us
With 22 rooms, we are deliberately not a big hotel. You will notice it in everything: in the personal welcome, the insider tips we share about the city, and a breakfast that keeps surprising our guests.
We are a two-minute walk from Ghent's main station. Close enough for easy arrival, far enough from the bustle for a good night's sleep.
Jeffrey and his brother Steven have been running the Carlton since 2012. No hotel chain, no anonymous director on the seventh floor. Just two brothers who believe a hotel can be personal.

Sustainability
At Carlton Hotel we are committed to sustainability and are proud of our partnership with Go Forest. Thanks to this initiative, we invest 20% of the revenue from our hotel parking in planting trees in Peru.
This way we support reforestation, offset the carbon emissions of our parking guests, strengthen biodiversity and contribute to the fight against climate change.
Carlton Hotel Gent is certified with the Green Key label. This means we take responsibility for nature and the environment, without you having to compromise on comfort.
20% of parking revenue goes towards reforestation in Peru. So far 1,917 trees have been planted, absorbing over 1,121 tonnes of CO₂. See our impact report.
Internationally recognised eco-label for sustainable hotels, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education. Certified since 2021. Learn more at greenkey.global.
We work with regional suppliers as much as possible. Freshness and origin are not an afterthought.
Cleaning and maintenance products meet the highest ecological standards.
Origin
Freshness is our basic principle. Almost all dishes are prepared à la minute. We only work with quality products.
Fair trade and organic. Locally grown where possible, seasonal as much as possible.
Ghent-made, from the company Heaven Chocolade.
All organic, free-range. Code 0 or 1: the lower the number, the higher the welfare.
From Breydel (Ghent region), pigs fed on local food waste.
Ghent
The historic quays along the Leie river. Beautiful during the day, even more so in the evening. Ten minutes by tram, or a pleasant walk through the city.
A medieval castle in the middle of the city. Solid, real and not tarted up for tourists. The tour is worth it.
The Ghent Altarpiece by Van Eyck hangs here. One of the most famous paintings in the world, within walking distance of your room. Worth it.
Friday and Saturday: a real market on a real square. No tourist folklore, just Ghent at its best.
The City Museum for those who want to understand the history, SMAK for contemporary art enthusiasts, or the simply curious.
Within walking distance of the hotel. Perfect to decompress when the city centre gets a bit much, or for a morning run.
